Following the initial training period, I switched from the MVS group to the data communications group. Responsible for the design, coding, development of VTAM, NCP, SNA, X.25 Software for the Siemens computer and europe-wide installation for customers.Maintenance and further development of the above products.
1982 to Dec. 1987:

C.I.S division (Compatible Information Systems).
S.E., Developer, and Trainer.Development of SNA-Software for Nixdorf 8890 computers (3270/3770 Emulation under VM). Installation, test and maintenance of the products for european customers.Training of Nixdorf personnel on these products.First Level Support.Initial testing of the products in the computer centre in USA (Richmond, Boston). 1985 switch to the UNIX-division. Development of SNA-, X.25-, LAN-Software for Targon computers. Europe-wide presales support. Worldwide training of Nixdorf personnel (USA, Asia, Europe)for the developed products. Europe-wide installation of X.25, SNA and LAN products to connect the Targon(UNIX) machines to mainframes. Attachment of PC's to SNA. Integration of PC-Software via UNIX networks.

Lecturer for data communications. Development, improvement and holding of courses in the VTAM, NCP, LAN, and X.25 areas primarily for customers, but also for Amdahl personnel. The courses were held mainly in the munich education centre. Course development using PC's with DTP und graphic software, as well as textprocessing programs.Section manager for data comms responsible for the complete curriculum and the deployment of approx. 5 employees (internal and external).
From 1989 worldwide deployment as instructor (USA, Far east, Europe, courses held in english) and takeover of the UTS (Amdahl UNIX) and VM divisions as section leader. Responsible for planning and development of courses, coordination of instructors, education sales, catalogue production and active education operations.From 1992 manager of customer education with responsibility for 4 internal and ca. 25 external employees with an annual budget of ca. 3 million DM. Administration and planning with Lotus 1-2-3, DBase etc. Second Level Support for data comms problems.Development of new courses for HighSpeed Networks (ATM, Frame Relay, etc) and Open Systems.Following the transfer of the education department from Amdahl to ISO I left Amdahl on 1.10.94.
